MASQUERADE
A visual exploration of our true selves
2020
Face masks have become, without a doubt, the symbol of the global pandemic affecting us all since 2020.
Regardless of where we come from, where we live, what language we speak or what beliefs we hold true, we have all been faced with similar challenges to overcome, connecting us and bringing us all together.
This photographic series explores the symbolism of masks through the use of photography’s particular ability to describe an historical moment in a conceptual form.
Each photograph encourages the viewer to question the way in which we reveal ourselves to others.
And ultimately, ask ourselves: Has society turned into one big Masquerade ball?
The series 'Masquerade, a visual exploration of our true selves', was created at the beginning of the 2020 lockdown and the months that followed.

A CONFINEMENT STORY
2020
In the eyes of a child, a global pandemic is a hard concept to grasp. Days go by with its ups and downs. Laying on the couch, rolling in the garden, waiting for the friends that never seem to arrive.
With a million questions and very few answers.
Nothing else to do but play with what you hear and what you see, even if it makes absolutely no sense.
This series was shot during the 2020 lockdown as an extension of the ‘Masquerade’ series and it also includes self-portraits.
